Gardens are often an artistic representation of the gardener who planted them. Even though you would not think that your garden says a lot about you, it surprisingly can. From the flowers you choose to plant, to the arrangement they are in, it all can portray certain things about the person who planted it. Here are few things that you can look for in your own garden to see if you garden really does represent you.  

The first thing that you notice about a garden is how meticulous it is. Does it look clean, fresh, and pristine? Or does it have a more natural relaxed look to it? Both of these kinds of gardens can mean different things. Having a very well-kept garden can symbolize that the gardener is a very detailed-oriented, tidy, and possibly a slight perfectionist. If the garden has a more natural, relaxed feel this can mean two different things. If can mean that the gardener is a more go-with-the-flow, relaxed person, or it can mean that the gardener uses gardening as an escape from stressful life. Some people garden as a hobby to have something relaxing to do, so they can have a break from their upbeat life. Even if the latter is the case, the person still tends to be more of a relaxed person than the first. 

 

In an article by Charles Hart , he talks about how just from looking at a garden you can most likely tell if the gardener is an extrovert or introvert. An introvert likes to spend time by themselves and so you will often create “hiding places” in the garden where they can really feel secluded. The hiding places often just add beauty to the landscaping of the garden and often provide beautiful views. Often an introvert will also have a lot of vines or tall plants on the perimeter of their garden to give it even more of a peaceful, secluded feel.

An extrovert’s garden tends to look a little different. First of all, they tend to be more vibrant. The colors of the flowers are very bright and pop-out, the garden catches the eye and brings attention to it. They are also much more open, with more structures in the garden that make it stand out. Extroverts will most likely be entertaining people in their garden and so there are many spots that have an opening for tables or chairs. This way they can enjoy the company and share their garden with them.
